We will hold several mandatory new student orientation sessions to help you proceed toward enrollment. Students unable to be in Beppu during the new student orientation period should refer to "4.Q&A" for instructions on how to participate in orientation seminars.

1. Preparation for orientation

August 22 Notice for new students enrolling in September 2022
September 12 Student ID Number & APU Account (ID & Password) Issued

An email will be sent to new students on Monday, September 12 with their user ID and password needed to access their APU email account as well as other IT systems at APU such as Campus Terminal (online portal) and the online course registration system. Access will be possible from September 21. Some orientation sessions will be held online via Zoom. Students will be required to login to their APU Zoom account to participate in these sessions. Be sure to attend the Information System Guidance on September 20 for more detailed information.

3. Orientation schedule (PDF)

【Pre Orientation Period】
Sep. 16 (Fri.)

▶ 8:30-17:30 Receive Student ID Card, Address Registration & Bank Account Opening / Face to Face / Mandatory /AP House 2
International students who move in to the dormitory will have a guidance on September 16 where they will register their address, open a bank account, and receive their student ID card after antigen testing. Domestic students will receive their student ID card at the Security Office.
Further details concerning these procedures will be sent to your APU email address after you arrive in Japan. Check your email frequently, read emails from the University carefully, and follow the instructions. Please be aware that it takes a minimum of 5 weeks to be able to use your bank account once you apply to open one after arriving in Japan.

* The same guidance will be held on September 30 for international students who did not move in to the dormitory on September 16.
* Students who do not live in the AP House will receive a student ID card at the Student Office during opening hours from Tuesday, September 20 to Thursday, September 22.

▶ All Day Antigen Testing for AP House Residents / Mandatory
Covid-19 antigen tests will be administered to students residing in AP House (including short-term exchange students). You will receive further information about how the test will be administered and your test time after you move in. The test will take about an hour per person.

4. Q & A (Information will be updated frequently.)

Q. It doesn’t look like I will be able to be in Beppu by the time orientation begins and will not be able to attend the on-campus orientation sessions in person. What should I do?
A. New students are required to attend the orientation sessions. The university has sent an email to students who will most likely not be in Beppu by the orientation period that contains information on how to take the placement test online as well as information about participating in orientation sessions. Click here for instructions on how to participate in orientation sessions.
Q. I haven't received the announcement with my placement test information and APU-Net user account information. What should I do?
A. Please contact the Academic Office (TEL: 0977-78-1122, E-mail:academi1@apu.ac.jp) if you do not receive this information in the time period listed in "1: Schedule" above.
Q. I want to speak with someone about my classes. What should I do?
A. First, please join the livestreamed “Course Registration and Grading” Guidance Session. If you still have questions after this session please join the “Course Registration Advising” event.
Q. I want to use the Library, but don't have my student ID yet.
A. Inform the Library counter staff that you haven't received your student ID yet. You will need to show something that identifies you as an APU student (email sent to your APU account, etc.) in place of your ID.
